In an introspection meeting comprising 14 discoms of as many Western UP districts, some tough decisions, including ordering of FIRs, issue of show cause notices and blacklisting certain power vendors, were taken. The districts include Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Ghaziabad, and Noida.
While an FIR was ordered to be lodged against a Bareilly-based contract firm for its slow progress of work in Moradabad, three others were served show-cause notices for being absent from the meeting.
A Ghaziabad-based firm was also blacklisted for providing sub-standard equipment for a contract. An enquiry has also been set up against the concern.
“We want vendors to be accountable for the work awarded to them. Anyone having discrepancies in their duty will be penalized accordingly. Now that we are well into summer, the load is comparatively high on the infrastructure. So we are trying to ensure regular power supply, which is possible only when good-quality equipment is used,” said Ashutosh Niranjan, MD, Pashimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd (PVVNL).
