CleanMax Solar, sustainability partner for India’s leading corporates and Institutions, has installed rooftop solar plant at IISER, Bhopal. The 346 kWp rooftop solar installation is spread across the ISSER, Bhopal campus, on a roof area of 46,000 square feet, and was inaugurated by M Rajeevan, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India and Prof Siva Umapathy, Director, IISER, Bhopal on Friday.
The expected generation for this project is 5.05 lakh units per annum, and is estimated to save ISSER around `9 lakhs annually. This project will abate 420 tons of carbon dioxide per annum which is equivalent to planting more than 10,000 full grown trees.
The rooftop solar plant installed at IISER Bhopal is based on the ‘pay as you go’ or OPEX/RESCO model which is investment free, risk free and hassle free; and will provide energy at tariffs 30 per cent cheaper than the prevailing grid tariff.
Bhopal is among the 20 cities to be selected in the first round of Smart Cities’ Mission of the Government of India. The Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation is actively working towards producing green energy by adopting rooftop solar power plants.
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal (IISER – Bhopal) is an autonomous research and education institute in Village – Bhauri, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. It was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2008 in order to incorporate research in basic science at undergraduate and graduate level, with equal emphasis on higher education for research and education in science. It is an autonomous institution awarding its own degrees.
